About Rikke Kiil

Rikke Kiil was born in 1973 in Silkeborg, the city where she spent her youth in the midst of a generous nature. Since childhood, Rikke Kiil showed a great love of drawing and nature. She was a rebellious and impulsive child. At school, she had the same teacher for all subjects including art. This motivated her to often make art in the classroom. The possibility of drawing in the class gave her a boost to believe in something. But now, the drawing is a meditation for her and not only a passion. At the age of eight, she get a dispensation to go to Arts School with adults. She grew up with the spirit of the Cobra movement and Asger Jorn which has a museum in Silkeborg where Rikke Kiil spent her youth. Jorn has inspired Rikke to try to do only what makes a positive difference for her and for others. She always tries not repeating herself and to innovate new techniques, colors, materials ... She thinks at her way of painting and designing reflects this inspiration. Therefore, the way things are done around us, can stimulate our inner creativity to design and create new ideas that focus on life in general and not about what is in the life for us.In the middle of 80s, Rikke Kiil had his first exhibition. In the early of 90s, she went to England and stayed 1 year in \\\\\\\"The Glass School\\\\\\\" next to Birmingham. During this time, she received a vast knowledge and a wide experience in the field of creativity. She learned a lot about the process of design and how much of things can be done with the design.

On his return to Denmark, she began to study \\\\\\\"Classical Art\\\\\\\" at the art school in Silkeborg. But she could not explore and manage all the creativity what dominates her spirit and her mind. Rikke Kiil is a person who does not like to wait for life decides everything for her. That is why, she decided to indulge in the creativity and to manage it constructively. So she started to explore other creative fields such as: the art of cooking, fitness, design textiles... Through all this, she was able to manage its creative spirit.

In 2000, she began to make exhibitions in Denmark and Germany. In 2007, she received her Bachelors Degree in \\\\\\\"Visual Communication\\\\\\\". In 2009, she made her first exhibition in New York. Now she participates in various exhibitions around the world. In 2013, she felt the need to do something else to share her experience and her knowledge. Thus she decided to do a Master on the experiences of design. She wants to clarify how people are using their experiences both in creativity, in art and in planning for the future.

Rikke Kiil always likes to learn different types of expressive and representative techniques.

She is interested in creativity of the installation as a concept. She is interested to devise new methods of exposing art in public places. She invests this knowledge in her art and in the foregrounds and backgrounds that she uses with her exhibitions. She becomes more expressionistic and reflective. She feels freer in creating what she believes. She loves only designate what is honest and sincere. She must be always alive and present when she paints.

She says: “I am like Pollack”. She has no plans to do when she starts painting but she begins simply. She lets the colors, the fabrics and the materials speak through her brush. The world as she feels is introduced into her painting of shapes, colors and words. For her, there are no sketches or planning for painting. There is only the action.

Rikke Kiil paints with her own style and her own way of being in the world. She gives us deep emotions through a work of character. The way she paints reflects her presence in the world: Who is she? How she talks, she walks and she asleep? Rikke says: “people should look at my art as a window where they can think about the world and about themselves as a part of the world”. The complex designs of Rikke Kiil are a reflection of the current world.

Rikke Kiil feels admiration for the abstract expressionism movement in 20th century, originated in New York city. It is a form of mental community in which Rikke finds the right expression to create a space of creativity and to maintain honesty.

Rikke Kiil is interested in showing in her paintings the space between people, media and interaction. For example, we see the horrors of war, but we see no real measure to secure those people who are exposed. We see the ice melting, but we do not see our own role in relation to this. Rikke Kiil tries to fill the space between Man and the world.
